In a world that is ever-changing, why wouldn’t the way we communicate with our customers change through social media? In the Private Country Club industry, we as marketing and communication professionals are limited to how we can engage and communicate with our members. Public advertising is not allowed in the industry. What about showing off your club on different platforms where so many members and prospective members live? With millennials beginning to look into memberships and members more active on social platforms, it is more important than ever to study and learn what social media trends to look out for.
According to the social media management tool Sprout Social, there are six top social media trends to take over in 2018. These six trends are
- Higher engagement between brands and customers
- Customizable chat bots
- Brands that will rely on social listening tools
- In-platform messaging and Instagram stories
- More augmented-reality and face filters.
Not all of these directly apply to the club industry. Yet.
Social media trends to begin implementing immediately
The top social media trend that the club industry can begin learning and implementing will be to engage with members/customers via social media. Did a member recently comment on the new menu item photo or share their experience at your club? Interact with them! This interaction can open the door to creating a more personalized experience for the member. Is there a big event happening at the club? You can create a “behind the scenes” moment. This will give the members an inside look at what is going on before they attend. Staying engaged with your members and current with social media trends then the opportunity to gain millennial prospective members increases.
Social Media is not going anywhere anytime soon. It is best for the club industry to adapt and learn how to make relationships, provide feedback and support to the members through every outlet possible.
